" Open To All Adult Piano Students" "Campbell/Rodriguez PIANO'PHILE DAY" A series of Sundays to study & share your love of piano playing with other adults. PIANO'PHILE Sunday 9:30 am Registration 10:00-12:00 Piano Jam* 12:00-1:00 Lunch (provided) 1:00-2:00 Private Lesson 2:00-3:00 Practice Time 3:00-4:00 Ensemble Time (duet practice) 4:00-5:00 Lecture 5:00-6:00 Open Recital; students and faculty invited to play. *Piano Jam or Jazz Jam: an ensemble playing class with several keyboards and a full drum set. Pieces will be selected and students will have the opportunity to learn/play their part and become a member of an ensemble. Our fullest effort will go into being sure all students in each session are on approximately the same level. An audition may be necessary for all new students. This is especially necessary for a successful "jazz jam" class.

Traditional Private Lessons. Registration for all private lessons and classes are prorated throughout the year.

Offered in guitar, bass guitar, flute, piano, jazz piano, violin, voice.

Age: 6 years to adult Length: 30, 45 and 60 minute weekly lessons.

Ensembles:

Being a part of a larger playing group is a wonderful musical experience. At the Academy we offer a variety of venues for this; 4 students minimum for each class. Jazz Ensembles, Piano Class, and Theory/Music Appreciation classes.

Jazz Ensemble 1

Open to all instruments to students with at least 4 years of private instruction. Students must have a working knowledge of major scales. Monday 5:00-6:00 Tuition $540.00 ($18.00)

Jazz Ensemble 2

Open to all instruments to students with over 4 years of private instruction. This class is designed to teach modes, improvisational technique and the art of soloing. Monday 6:00-7:00 Tuition $540.00 ($18.00)

Additional Programs Available:

private, customized instruction open to all students, all instruments, all levels in jazz study. Playing chords, understanding improvisation and theory are part of this program. All teaching exclusively done by grant recipient composer & jazz pianist Bob Rodriguez. Students are asked to participate in an evaluation where Mr. Rodriguez will create a unique approach that will suit the students musical needs. Please note; the tuition for this program is $70.00 per hour.

Adult Piano Class 1

Learn the basics of piano playing in a friendly, noncompetitive, group setting. Basic chords, learning to read notes, and playing simple arrangements of songs will be the main focus of this class. No experience necessary- all levels welcome. Saturday 11:00-12:00 $540.00 ($18.00)

Adult Piano Class 2

Designed for adults with over 3 years of playing experience, this class aims at serving adults who have some basic skills, but who are interested in learning to play from a Fake Book (music with melody and chord symbols only) and augment and elaborate their basic playing skills. Saturday 12:00-1:00 $540.00 ($18.00)

Theory/Music Appreciation

Open to all ages and levels. This class will cover ear training, listening to different styles in classical, jazz, and pop music, and chords and composition. An excellent choice for students with gaps in their music education, and for singers who want to learn how to accompany themselves. Saturday-1:00-2:00 $540.00 ($18.00)
